WhatsApp is an extremely popular messaging platform that many people enjoy and use on a regular basis. It has been around for quite some time, offering various different ways for users to communicate, such as text, pictures, videos, etc., and recently, WhatsApp has been working on a new feature to let iOS users send and receive short video messages.
This feature was discovered by WABetaInfo while they were checking out a beta version of WhatsApp for iPhone. The feature isn’t available to the public yet, but they were able to turn it on and see how it works. Basically, it runs just like Telegram’s short video messages – allowing users to record a video of up to 60 seconds, send it to other people, and have it shown in a circular format which will play automatically.
One interesting and useful detail is that the video messages on WhatsApp will be end-to-end encrypted, and they cannot be saved or forwarded. However, it is possible to take screenshots of them. This feature will give users a better, more expressive way to communicate, especially when they want to quickly show something important with the camera, though it is uncertain when this option will be released for everyone to use.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp has been introducing various other new features. Recently, the platform has started rolling out voice support for posting status updates and is also testing a new Expiring Groups feature for specific occasions. It has also been exploring the idea of giving its users access to an option that would let them edit sent messages, as Telegram and iMessage also have similar functions.
WhatsApp can be found for free on the App Store and requires an iPhone running iOS 12 or later. Let us know what you think about this potential new feature in the comments below!
