It’s no secret that fans around the world have been captivated by the adventures of The Mandalorian and the extended Star Wars universe. Initially created by Jon Favreau for Disney+, the show set a new platform for storytelling. And ahead of the season three premiere, it seems that the beloved show may be going on for even longer than planned.

In an interview with Total Film magazine, Favreau revealed that The Mandalorian doesn’t have an endgame in mind, hinting that the beloved characters could be with us for much longer than expected.

“I think the beauty of this is that it’s a middle chapter of a much larger story,” Favreau said. “And though we’ll have resolution over time with these characters…it’s not like there’s a finale that we’re building to that I have in mind. Quite the contrary. I love for these stories to go on and on. And so these characters potentially could be with us for a while. I really love telling stories in their voice, and I love the way the adventures unfold and I’m looking forward to doing much more.”

Favreau seems to be fully prepared for this endeavor, having already written out the entirety of Season 4 and future seasons to come. Fans can rest assured that no matter the outcome of impending storylines, the show itself is set to deliver many more surprises in the coming years.

In further conversation with BFM TV, Favreau revealed his hopes for the weekly release schedule, which has helped build the show’s following even further. “The goal is that we have enough things happen each episode that everybody wants to jump around the digital kitchen table and talk about, and argue about, and guess to what is going to happen next,” Favreau said.

The Mandalorian is set to bring back the beloved characters while adding a whole new realm of mystery and discovery. The creative forces behind the show seem to be in full swing, and there’s no telling where The Mandalorian could take us next.

The third season of The Mandalorian will begin streaming on Disney+ March 1. With many more adventures in store, this could be the start of something grand for the series.
