We could be on the verge of finally learning an official Starfield release date, as it’s now been said that a new showcase for the game is “imminent”. Currently, we only know that it will be available in the first half of 2023, but many were concerned that the lack of a more specific window would push the game too far in the year – potentially leading to a delay.
Fortunately, it appears that this won’t be the case, as VGC’s editor-in-chief, Andy Robinson, recently revealed that a Starfield showcase was about to arrive, giving us more information. While he didn’t give a timeframe, the Sony State of Play just recently passed, meaning that Microsoft and Bethesda have plenty of room to reveal the release date and surprise us with the game’s arrival.
Since then, the last official word we’ve heard on the matter was back in January, when Bethesda said that the date reveal was coming “very soon”. Taking both this into account, it’s highly probable that an announcement is just around the corner and that we’ll see Starfield arrive on our platforms very soon.
A popular fan theory suggests that the game could be released on April 12, or the International Day of Human Space Flight. It would certainly be fitting, but it remains to be seen if Bethesda can actually stick to such a timeline and launch the game on that day. It would need to be in an extremely polished state for such a stunt to work, although the developer does have a name for such surprises, like with the recent and sudden launch of Hi-Fi Rush.
Regardless of when it arrives, it’s undeniable that Starfield is going to be an extremely exciting game for players to look forward to. What’s more, this RPG title will also be available on launch on Game Pass, meaning that Xbox and PC gamers will be able to access it from day one.
We don’t know when or what the upcoming Starfield showcase will entail, but hopefully it’ll provide us with the clarity we need regarding the game’s release date and leaving the door open for its potentially imminent launch.
