This week, various members of the press and influencers had the opportunity to get an exclusive look at some of the exciting games that will be available on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Mac this year. From the looks of it, Apple is making a push to strengthen their presence in the gaming world. This event was intended to provide a closer look into the games coming to their platforms this year and the opportunities that exist for game developers.

The event took place at a dedicated location in New York City which Apple has used in the past for private briefings with members of the press. At this week’s event, there were several game developers present to show off their upcoming projects. Jacklyn Dallas of “NothingButTech” wrote in an Instagram post how she was “truly left so inspired and excited” after attending the event. She also noted how “the developers were infectiously passionate about their new launches.”

The games that were featured include Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, Honkai: Star Rail, Lego Starwars castaways, Run Legends, and The Medium.

On CNN Underscored, Mike Andronico wrote about his experience at the event and was particularly impressed by Call of Duty: Warzone, which is coming to iPhone later this year. According to Andronico, the game ran “at a fluid 120 frames per second on an iPhone 14 Pro Max” and the device got “warm during [his] gameplay” but thankfully, this could be attributed to the fact that they were playing pre-release software.

The Medium, however, proved to be the highlight of the event. This game was showcased on an M2 Mac mini and ran at “4K resolution” as well as “what looked at least 60 frames per second”. Bloober Team, the developer of The Medium, noted that the game has been tested on both M1 and M2-powered Macs, so it is expected to run well even on the basic 2020 MacBook Air.

Tom’s Guide’s Marshall Honorof also wrote about the event, describing it as “highlighting the iPhone maker’s latest advances in gaming.” Honorof went on to explain how Apple is transitioning to Apple Silicon and focusing on games for the iPhone and iPad as well as using the Mac as a gaming platform.

After attending this week’s event, it is evident that Apple’s presence in the gaming world is growing. With Apple’s advances in gaming with Metal technology, gamers are likely to encounter impressive graphics and performance when playing on the Apple platform. We are eager to know what the rest of the year has in store for gamers on the Apple platform.
