The new trailer for John Wick 4 has been released, giving fans another tantalising look at what to expect in the Chad Stahelski-directed film. Following on from the family-focussed trailers of the past, the latest installment sees John Wick (Keanu Reeves) facing new and old enemies as he works to earn his freedom from the High Table.
The trailer, from Lionsgate, hints at a number of exciting and epic fights, featuring swords, cars, horses and guns – as well as a cute new pup. As ‘The Baba Yaga’ starts to prepare for the oncoming battles, the voiceover says “The only way John Wick will ever have freedom and peace is in death,” with ‘Winston’ – played by Ian McShane – ominously finishing with “And so it begins.”
The cast also features names such as Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, Laurence Fishburne, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Lance Reddick, Rina Sawayama and Scott Adkins, many of whom pose a significant physical, emotional and ideological threat to John Wick.
In the cover story for Wired acrioss Stahelski and Reeves, the two spoke about the concept of the movie and it’s choreography . Reeves described the concept around freedom and choice, with the rules and consequences inherent in every choice – something that resonates from The Matrix. Meanwhile, Stahelski spoke about avoiding VFX for the fight sequences and stunts, believing that human action and mistakes are much better for the cameras than the perfect execution of VFX.
This is the final movie in the John Wick series, and fans can follow its character Into an epic journey of fights and saves, culminating in its release date of March 24th. With a talented cast and a director combining their expert skills, fans can expect to witness some nail-biting action and visuals as they cheer John Wick on to his final freedom.
